What’s new with the 2012 Toyota Prius? Aside from the packages and options, Toyota Prius has several updates on bumper, grille, taillights, and headlights.  One of the major highlights of the new Prius is the Pearl Sea Glass shade as a replacement of the sandy beach color. Meanwhile, the metallic blue ribbon has been replaced by a new color choice called the metallic nautical blue. Hence, the Prius II package features a standard 6.1 inches touchscreen, daytime running lights, and the latest 15-inch rims with newly improved designs. The Prius III package has several new features including an update on the solar roof option, a standard Entune system and a new Smart Key system. The Prius IV model package gets a revised solar roof deluxe package, SofTex seats, Entune, and standard headlamps. The Prius V model has the higher innovative tech package with full revision of lane keep assist feature, fore collision system, display heads up, Entune and the HDD navigation system. On the other hand, the innovative parking assistance system was removed for this new model.
The exterior of the Toyota Prius models is considered the most exceptional among all other types of vehicles in the market nowadays. However, the wedge shape is to some extent the reason why it is low coefficient of drag by only 0.25. It also facilitates the increase of its fuel economy numbers. There is an optional Plus Performance package, which includes 17-inch tires from the standard 15-inch tires. It has a slightly lower stance plus a 7-piece body kit for the entire package.
The interior has some revisions including the 5-passenger accommodation. On the other hand, there are some similarities with the Corolla model when it comes to its headroom and legroom. Nevertheless, the Toyota Prius has the largest rear hip room compared to the Corolla model. The unique layout of the Prius dashboard features digital gauges. These gauges have several features such as Bluetooth, mobile apps, and a personal smart phone control.
When it comes to performance, fuel efficiency is the most priority. The Prius runs a 1.8L, 4-cylinder Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain engine. In addition, Prius features an electric motor that reduces the emissions and increases the fuel numbers. With its 134 horsepower, Prius is capable of up to 51 mpg in its fuel numbers. It has a strong brake pedal due to its regenerative braking system. The base price starts at $24,000.
